WarnNaija is built on a foundation of anonymity. We designed this platform so that you can report security incidents without ever revealing who you are. This is not just a policy - it is built into the technical architecture of the platform.

What we collect

When you submit a report, we collect: the type of incident, your approximate location at LGA level only, the severity you select, and your description. We do not collect your name, phone number, email address, device ID, or IP address. If you choose to provide contact details, these are stored in a completely separate database table and are never linked to your report.

What we do NOT collect

We never collect your exact GPS coordinates - only your Local Government Area. We never log your IP address or device fingerprint. We never use cookies for tracking. We never share your data with advertisers. We never sell your data to any third party.

Your reference code

After submitting a report you receive a unique reference code. This code allows you to follow up on your report anonymously. No personal information is linked to this code. Even WarnNaija administrators cannot identify who submitted a report using this code.

How your report is used

Reports are reviewed by WarnNaija administrators before being published. Verified reports appear on the public safety map without any identifying information. Security agency analysts can access verified reports for operational purposes - they see only the incident details, location, and severity, never any identity information.

External news sources

WarnNaija automatically monitors Nigerian news sources including TheCable, Premium Times, Punch, and Daily Trust for security-related stories. These are publicly available news articles and no personal data is involved in this process.

Data storage and security

All data is stored securely in Supabase, a trusted database platform with enterprise-grade security. All connections to WarnNaija are encrypted using HTTPS. Access to the database is protected by Row Level Security policies.

Your rights

You have the right to request deletion of any report you submitted. Since reports are anonymous, you will need your reference code to make this request. Contact us at info@warnaija.ng with your reference code and we will delete your report within 48 hours.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of WarnNaija after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
